Month: November 2013

Conflict and Suspense

Meeting Reminder: Thursday November 28th, 7pm at St Marks. (Members only.)

Join our Thursday night session on Conflict and Suspense, presented by Victoria Smith. Based on the book of the same name by James Scott Bell, Victoria will discuss what makes a reader turn pages versus the dreaded ‘putting the book down moment’. She’ll also examine the foundations of conflict, analyze The King’s Speech for suspense and structure, and present some tricks for creating plots with emotionally satisfying conflict.

As this is our last meeting of 2013, we will be announcing our 2014 Winter/Spring programme – and there will be door prizes for everyone!

Looking forward to seeing you there.

ARWA Self-Publishing Venture

A huge shout out to Jessica L. Jackson for talking us through ARWA’s proposed Self-Publishing Venture at yesterday’s meeting. She did a fabulous job and we all came away from the workshop inspired and excited about the upcoming opportunities.

For those who weren’t able to make the meeting, we will be sending around information with guidelines etc in the next few weeks, so keep an eye on your in-boxes.

2014 is going to be an exciting year!

Again, Jessica – a huge thanks!
