Welcome to ARWA!!!
The summer has passed by all too quickly, but I hope everyone had a fun yet relaxing time spent with family, friends, and maybe a notebook or two. We find ourselves once again beginning a new and exciting year! This year’s program will concentrate on keeping us IN our seats and writing!
Our first meeting of the year on Thursday, September 25, 2008 promises to be a lot of fun with a Speaker’s Corner, Round Robin and Mahrie Glab speaking on “Wishcraft, Seatcraft and Getting Published”.
ARWA will be launching an annual magazine to celebrate its members work! This is your opportunity to see your work in print and to establish a recognized publishing credit. The book will be produced professionally and made available at the 2009 June AGM, as well as the publication will be for sale online via the ARWA website across North America . Detailed information will be in the September issue of Connections and the ARWA website.
An extremely tough subject for many of us – the dreaded synopsis – will also be worked on this year. “Synopsis Clinics” will be the focus of the Saturday workshops in November and January, and if well received, could continue to year’s end. I know I have a tremendous amount of work myself to do with synopsis and look forward to the workshops!
This year is all about keeping your butt in the chair and writing. We aren’t saying you need to write the next great novel, but as long as you can start writing, it grows from there. Hey – you never know - maybe you just WILL be the one to write that next great novel!!!
Dream big, dream often and smile while doing it!!
