Joining ARWA

Registration for the 2017-2018 ARWA Membership is currently open. New members are accepted from June until October 31st each program year. The program year begins in September. However, limited membership is available on a one time basis for those who miss this membership window. Please contact ARWA for details regarding limited membership. If you are a previous member or a published author you may join at any time.

ARWA meets on the fourth Thursday of each month, except for July, August and December. Through ARWA, members have access to the Connections newsletter, an online support group, critique opportunities, meetings, workshops, discounts on conferences/seminars that are open to the public and social events to support published and unpublished writers. All members should receive the Connections newsletter digitally via email.

Membership – Dues: $60.00/year

No submission of your writing is required.

By clicking below, you agree: as a member of the Alberta Romance Writers’ Association, to give the ARWA board permission for ARWA to e-mail me with items and information pertinent to me as a writer and ARWA member, including but not limited to ARWA newsletter, ARWA loop, ARWA updates, announcements of ARWA author releases and ARWA programme reminders.

Other Information:

If you miss the membership registration period:

  • Returning Members: You may join at any time throughout the year. Please contact us to find out about on-line/mail-in registration options.
  • New Members: If you miss the membership deadline, please contact us for details on associate membership and pro-rated fees.

Some of the information required on the application includes:

  • Your name
  • Your mailing address
  • Your membership fee
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address

There are two other types of membership available:

Extraordinary Membership

Extraordinary membership status will be dealt with on an individual basis by the Board of Directors as specific situations arise: Eg: Temporary membership for members of other writing organizations who are in Calgary for limited periods of time. Please contact the Membership Chair for information on extraordinary membership opportunities.

Limited Membership

Limited membership will be allowed for those who wish to join at times other than the membership window and will be a one time only option. Limited membership will expire at the next membership intake. Limited membership privileges will include attendance at regular meetings and workshops, receipt of the newsletter and temporary access to the membership area of the website, but will not include special events or special programmes. At the discretion of the Board, limited members may be entitled to a pro-rated fee for special events. Please contact the Membership Chair for information on limited membership opportunities.
