Writing for Young Adults (YA)

With Suzy Vadori

How does writing for young people differ from other genres? Is YA a genre in itself? YA Writer Suzy Vadori brings you into the world of young adult novels – one of the most popular sections of the bookstore. This workshop will explore writing for different age groups, voice, perspective, character building, plot development and romance for young readers in an interactive format. Bring a notebook to try your hand at writing for YA and discover your youthful voice.

Suzy Vadori is an executive by day, Writer by night. Her first YA novel, “The Fountain”, is expected to be published later in 2015. She is working on the second book in the Fountain series, as well as writing a psychological thriller for adults on the side. Suzy has been the Program Manager for When Words Collide (WWC) Children’s, Middle Grade and Young Adult since 2013. When Words Collide is a festival for Readers and Writers held in Calgary each year in August. Suzy currently lives in Calgary, Alberta with her husband and three kids.
